I removed the last bit of info about Travis Wells and MM+ due to poor grammar and the fact that MM+ is postponed indefinitely. - Owers

why is 3dmm.com down? does anyone know?

the popular 3mmers sections should be reinstated imo

For anyone in the 3DMM Community who may be reading this, we ought to get this article up to speed and keep it updated. Anyone who has the old 3DMM history from EP, please put it up here. Also, we need people to help describe how the program works and such with screenshots and the like.

EP City has a different version of the history. If you're looking for the actual program history, see if one of the EP administrators has it. -AKS

Sorry. EP City is down, permanantly. - Jim Raynor 3DMM.com member 4.156.159.126 03:26, 18 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Er...sorry about the bad revert. As I look through the edit history, I can't figure out what I was trying to do there. func(talk) 06:33, 14 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

History of the 3dmm Community

[edit]

To the anon person who wrote this section: can it be condensed in any way? I'm not trying to offend you here or anything as i'm sure you put a lot of effort into it (unless you copied it from somewhere), but its a bit too long and waffly. By that, i just mean that its not the sort of thing that someone unfamiliar with 3DMM would want to read through. Make sure that everything mentioned is notable (ie, has interest to people outside the community) and you dont be too chatty and informal (like "Once there was this kid called..."). Thanks.

One or two screenshots of 3DMM and movies would be quite nice to fill it out with too. Remember to make sure you have a movie director's permission before taking a screenshot, though. I wouldve done it meself a while ago but ive lost my 3dmm cd :(

I didn't write this, but I know for a fact that the 'History' section was copied from somewhere, but it was written by various people. I actually wrote most of the 2002 portion, but I had no idea it would wind up here, so... it's written pretty informally. I agree that it needs to be condensed.

whoever took down the notable 3DMM movies list is an idiot. Any silly additions to the list or just crap movies were taken down after a discussion on the bulletin board involving the people who know what the hell they're talking about.

Is this software available anywhere for download?

[edit]

And is it free and legal? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 5supersim (talkcontribs) 22:54, 8 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It is available with a small amount of searching, though I'm hesitant to give you a link since I'm not sure of the legality. It may well be abandonware, especially seeing as the division of Microsoft that created it is no longer extant, but I suspect that it's technically still under copyright. -Elmer Clark 04:31, 9 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Will try to clean this up

[edit]

This article is awkward to say the least, I'm working on a revision however finding citable sources regarding this program is difficult, as it was never commercially very successful and microsoft only carry extremely basic information on their site. Will keep looking though Guycucumber (talk) 04:19, 31 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Example film

[edit]

Hello, I have made an example film for the purpose of this article using only the MIT-licensed base assets, as well as a record scratch sound I found labled under CC0. File:Microsoft_3D_Movie_Maker_Video.webm RockosModernLifeFan848 (talk) 18:37, 30 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

If this is not elegible for use for whatever reason, I may try to record some of the sample videos (or see if I can find them on YouTube, though I'd have to check that no McZee imagery is there)--RockosModernLifeFan848 (talk) 19:29, 30 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
